Polol'u Valley Trail (400ft descent from overlook to ocean)

View from the Polol'u Valley Overlook

Beginning the short but steep descent to the valley floor and beach

This trail can be slippery after rain, and requires careful footing

A beautiful section of the Kohala Mountains

Continuing the descent along an eroded trail section

Classic view of the sea cliffs along the northern end of Hawai'i island

A small panorama of Polol'u Valley

The trail reaches the beach

Looking back to the heavily wooded valley

Hawai'i-sized beach pebbles

Only a few people were enjoying the beach

Ascending up the rocky trail

The clouds were breaking up when we got back to the overlook, providing a final brighter view

Spectacular sunset back at our condo near Kona
