Day 3 (Kettlewell to Cam Houses, 14 miles)
After purchasing replacement boots from the Over & Under shop in the hope of curing Suzanne's sore feet, we set off under sunny skies and reached Hubberholme at 1:00. After a stop at their friendly pub, the George, for drinks, we visited St. Michael's church then walked on to find a riverside picnic spot. The day's walk is mostly through Langstrothdale, which we remembered from 2000 as one of our favorite sections of the route. The area seems more remote than Wharfedale, though the Wharfe remains a constant companion until the path leaves the river to climb Oughtershaw and reach open moorland. We ended the day's walk at remote Camm Farm, which has been beautifully restored and is a very welcome overnight stop. The proprietor, Janet, cooked us a lovely evening meal, which we enjoyed with our walking friends met in Ilkley. The good beds and peaceful surroundings were much appreciated.
