Picacho Peak State Park, Southern Arizona
(Sunset Vista Trail, 3.1 miles to Peak)
Picacho State Park, with its distinctive spire-like double peak, lies
approximately halfway between Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona. Higher than
average rainfall this winter resulted in a profusion of wildflowers,
especially Mexican Gold Poppies, Coulter's Lupine, and Brittlebrush (a
daisy-like flowering shrub). Sunlight behind the Cholla cactus made
their thorns appear to glow; reddish hues on barrel cacti, flowering
prickly pear and Ocotillo, endless rows of stately Saguaro cacti and
beautiful distant blue mountains completed the picture for a beautiful
spring walk!

A springtime hike was great way to enjoy the company of family & friends
