Point Reyes National Seashore (Estero, Drakes Head Trails: 8.8 miles)

Cow's parsley is starting to bloom on the coastal hills

Fog hugged the coast all day

Setting off along the Estero Trail, in a bit of sunshine

Wisps of fog float above the estero; Douglas iris blooms in the foreground

Ghostly fog along the estero

At the eastern-most point of the estero, sun breaks through

Low tide highlights interesting patterns on the estero floor

Ceanothus blooms along the trail

Lovely clump of native Iris, backed by Huckleberry

The fog thickens as we get farther west

Large patches of iris flank the western pond

The view back, with a bit of remaining sunshine (soon to disappear for good!)

Heavy fog as we ascend Drakes Head

Wildflowers on the headland

With two flasks of tea and a picnic lunch, all is right with the world

View south from our lunch spot, Limantour Estero barely visible through heavy fog

Looking due west from the same point . . .

. . . and a final view north

Returning on the Estero Trail

Final view of tidal patterns on the estero
