San Pedro Valley Park, Pacifica (Brooks Creek, Montara Mountain Trails:
7 miles)

Montara Mountain is today's goal, with its 360 degree views

The Brooks Creek Trail begins shaded by Eucalyptus and pine trees ...

... but soon emerges into chaparral, including many Ceanothus in full bloom

A huge Manzanita overhangs the trail

The trail soon provides views over Pacifica and to the ocean

Another Ceanothus frames the ocean view

The top of Montara Mountain was blanketed in Goldfields

Looking north from the top, with Mt. Tamalpais in the distance

Looking south, toward Montara Beach and Half Moon Bay

Poppies were also plentiful on the mountain top

These Indian Paintbrush were an unusual shade, unlike the more common orange-red

A final view south from an adjacent hilltop, covered in poppies, lupine, and thistle
