Briones Regional Park (Old Briones Road, Spengler, Valley Trails, 7 miles)

Springtime panorama in Briones

Our walk begins along the Old Briones Road Trail

Old Briones Road Trail starts out relatively flat...

...but soon begins to climb gradually as it enters an oak grove

Many of the park "trails" (mostly fire roads) are shaded by lovely mature oaks

View from higher up the trail (many of the trails today are quite steep)

Another view to the west, from our picnic spot

The Spengler Trail passes through many beautiful oak and bay groves...

...as well as lovely meadows

A Klimt-like grove of trees, covered in lichen

The trail opens to provide a good view of Mount Diablo

This Salamander would not stand still for an in-focus picture!

We briefly take the Table Top Trail...

...but soon join the Briones Crest Trail before reaching Table Top
